A Run at Brunnsviken: Making Room for Movement in Stockholm
In June 2025, I shared a few photographs from a run at Brunnsviken with a short caption: “Brunnsviken trail. It went good today!!” Sometimes that is all an outing needs: a place to move, a little time outside and something worth remembering.
The photograph above is adapted from that day’s pictures. It captures a moment outside in running clothes, with no finish line or podium needed. Looking back at it now, it offers a useful starting point for a new week: what could movement look like if we made a little room for it, without making it another complicated project?
Let the outing be enough
A run does not have to become a race, and a walk does not have to become a step-count challenge. There can be space for both focused training and time outside with no result to report.
For your next outing, choose one simple intention. Perhaps it is to leave the desk for a while, revisit a familiar path or spend time with a friend. That gives the outing a purpose without needing to compare it with somebody else’s distance or pace.
A photograph can be a different kind of record, too. It remembers what caught your eye, rather than only how far you went. The trees and the light can have a place alongside the numbers—or take their place entirely.
Make the plan fit the day
Some days have room for a longer run. Others have room for a short walk between commitments. Before deciding what you should do, consider the time you actually have and the kind of outing you want.
- Choose a familiar starting point. Keep the decision small enough that planning does not take up the whole break.
- Leave yourself room to change your mind. A shorter outing can still be the outing you chose to make time for.
- Notice one thing along the way. A patch of colour, an interesting tree or a different view gives you something to take home beyond a number on a watch.
These are invitations, not a training programme. There is no need to recreate my Brunnsviken run to make the idea your own.
From time outside to everyday life
Movement is part of the Dashable story, alongside personal training and everyday clothing. The connection is ordinary life: time for an activity, then the rest of the day.
If you are looking for something to change into afterwards, explore the Dashable clothing collection. For outfit ideas, the Journal also has a guide to styling a hoodie and T-shirt for everyday wear.
If your next step is more structured, you can read about personal training with Daša or get in touch to discuss what you are looking for.
For today, the question can stay small: where would you like to go when you have a little time to move?
